Roadwork Continues on Washington Street Friday

Here's what you need to know today in Peabody.

Today is Friday, Aug. 9. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. The roadwork around Peabody is far from over. Next on the list is Washington Street, from Foster Street down to 16 Lynnfield St. That stretch was due to be milled Thursday and Friday in preparation for paving, according to Peabody police. Work will be conducted between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and motorists should expect traffic delays. No parking will be allowed on the street during this time and violators may be towed at the owner's expense.
  2. The annual sales tax holiday is this weekend, following approval of the legislation earlier this month. The Northshore Mall is offering extended shopping hours and other stores are holding special sales.
  3. The Night of 1,000 Customers is this Friday at the McDonald's on Endicott Street in Danvers. The promotion, which includes 24-cent hamburgers and more, benefits Northeast Clinical Services.
