No Parking: Paving Wednesday for Caruso Court and Manor Drive

Here's what you need to know today in Peabody.

Today is Wednesday, Sept. 18. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. The city will be paving Caruso Court and Manor Drive Wednesday. The Peabody Police Department issued an alert Tuesday night to that effect, notifying residents no parking will be allowed on either street from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Vehicles may be towed at the owner's expense. In the case of inclement weather, paving will be postponed to the next work day.
  2. Free demo: There's a free demonstration of cardio kickboxing at D&A Fitness and Martial Arts on Wednesday.
  3. Free playgroups: The Coordinated Family & Community Engagement Program offers free playgroups for kids on Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings at the McCarthy School. You check out the schedule here as well as the other activities and programs offered.
  4. Click your heels and celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz this Saturday at the Northshore Mall. The event is hosted by the Simon Kidgits Club and there will be various activities for kids. The film will be released Friday in IMAX theaters in 3D.
  5. Want to learn more about solar power in your home?The Second Congregational Church over on Maple Street ishosting a free community event Saturday afternoon. Stop down to learn more about solar energy and possible systems in the home. There will also food and a demonstration.
