Need Some Help With Your Computer or Gadget?

Here's what you need to know today in Peabody.

Today is Friday, Dec. 27. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. Need some computer help? Senior Reference Librarian and technology trainer Michael Wick will be on hand in the Young Adult Room at the Main Branch Library again on Monday to help you out if you have questions about your computer or tech gadget or find yourself stuck on a certain task. Drop in between 10 a.m. and noon for one-on-one assistance. Computers will be available to use, and you can also bring your laptop. Also note, Wick isn't available to answer your computer repair or diagnostic questions on technology or software malfunctions. You'll need to seek help elsewhere for that.
  2. Holiday Hours at the Peabody Institute: All branches of the public library will only be open 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. on New Year's Eve and closed on New Year's Day.
  3. Are your plans all set to ring in 2014 yet? There's a special comedy show planned to ring in the new year at the Elks Club. Larry Lee Lewis and Johnny Joyce will perform for the night with a buffet, dancing, live band and more. A portion of the proceeds will benefit a pancreatic cancer fund in memory of John "Oogie" May, who died earlier this year.
  4. Stonewood Tavern also says it's planning a New Year's Eve party with complimentary hors d"oeuvres, champagne and party favors. Tickets and dinner reservations are now available.
  5. Are you hosting a New Year's Eve party or know of another good one around town? Go ahead and post the pertinent details right to our event calendar.
