Woman Charged With 2 Hit and Run Crashes in Same Day
The following information was provided by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
The following are excerpts from reports in the Peabody Police Department press log from Jan. 5-8.
Thursday, Jan. 5
- 2:17 p.m. A 24-year-old Lynn woman was issued a court summons for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and giving a false name to a police officer, following a motor vehicle stop on Route 114 near Sears.
- 2:50 p.m. A female caller reported her car was struck near the Walgreens on Main Street. The other vehicle – a black SUV – then fled the scene toward Peabody Square.
- 5:39 p.m. Police received a report of a hit-and-run accident on Lowell Street. The suspect's vehicle was a gray 2004 Ford F150 driven by a female and heading east. The victim was a male driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee. Police received another report of a hit-and-run accident at the on-ramp to Route 128 South from Route 114 at 7:08 p.m. Police identified the suspect as the same female and pickup truck from the earlier incident. The 25-year-old was issued a court summons for leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. This time, this victim was driving a green 1999 Volkswagen Passat.
- 5:52 p.m. A caller on Pulaski Street reported his green 1995 Nissan truck was stolen.
Friday, Jan. 6
- 9:58 a.m. A female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Tremont and Central streets and subsequently transported to Salem Hospital by ambulance. Her injuries were not life threatening. Police said the driver of the vehicle would be cited.
- 1:05 p.m. Police responded to a report of a car accident at the corner of Herrick and Samoset roads. Police said a light pole was knocked down.
- 1:09 p.m. A caller on Veterans Memorial Drive reported a package was stolen from her mailbox.
- 2:52 p.m. East Bridgewater police served a restraining order to a 24-year-old Peabody man and confiscated his license to carry a weapon, along with two handguns.
- 6:38 p.m. A caller reported her Express gift card was stolen and used at the store inside the mall.
- 8:45 p.m. A caller reported that employees at Salem Collision on Foster Street were doing donuts with a vehicle in the parking lot. Police said the employees weren’t racing; they were testing a car they were working on. There wasn’t enough room in the parking lot.
Saturday, Jan. 7
- 11:57 a.m. The Fire Department responded to a fuel spill at Best Gas on Route 1. There was a dispute between a customer and the staff over who was paying for the spilt fuel. Police said the customer did not pay for the $20 worth of fuel spilled on the ground.
- 12:37 p.m. A 42-year-old Peabody man was issued a summons for larceny over $250, following a report of the theft of a phone at Tremont Market.
- 1:37 p.m. Police received a report of a past theft at T&L Liquors on Lowell Street.
- 3:46 p.m. A caller at Pine Grove on Route 1 reported someone stole his medication.
- 4:52 p.m. A caller at a Driscoll Street apartment reported his ex-wife threatened to come down and beat up his girlfriend. Police said the matter involved child support and advised the man to go to court.
- 4:57 p.m. A caller reported his car window was smashed outside Carrabba’s Italian Grill. Nothing was taken.
- 5:23 p.m. A caller reported a possible break-in to apartments on Northend Street. Police said someone did try to enter one apartment, but only succeeded in damaging the doorknob.
- 6:38 p.m. Two Lynn residents, 29 and 24, who live at the same address, were issued court summonses for larceny over $250, following a report from store security at JC Penney regarding a former employee.
- 8:55 p.m. Police received a report of a past shoplifting at Nordstrom. Two Burberry purses valued at $1,600 were stolen.
- 10:44 p.m. Police received a report of a water leak on Oran Circle. DPS and the Fire Department were notified.
- 11:23 p.m. A caller on Janet Lane reported the family’s house was broken into. Police said multiple items as well as cash and a safe were taken.
Sunday, Jan. 8
- 1:26 a.m. A caller at the corner of Hancock and Sherman streets reported two females were running and down the street yelling. Police were unable to locate the females.
- 3:33 a.m. A caller reported a Dumpster at 2 Washington St. was on fire. The Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
- 11:42 a.m. Police received a report of a past car break-in at Workout World. Police said the passenger side rear window was broken and a purse and two wallets were taken.
- 12:22 p.m. A caller at the Apple Store in the mall asked to speak to an officer regarding a previously stolen iPad.
- 1:33 p.m. Police received a report of some needles in the parking lot at the YMCA. Police picked up the syringes and disposed of them at the station.
