What Should Go Here at 150 Main St.?

Introducing our newest column, which seek readers' input on what they'd like to see in various vacant storefronts in the city.

If you drive by on even a semi-regular basis, you know that this commercial unit at 150 Main St., which used to be home to West Coast Video, has been empty for several years now.

As part of our new “What Should Go Here?” column, we want your input – what kind of business should move in to that spot in the strip mall?

Have you been hoping for a certain kind of business to come to the downtown? Is there something you think would thrive in this Main Street location? Let us know in the comments section.

Building Commissioner Kevin Goggin says there just hasn’t been much interest in the site that he’s aware of, although some of the vacant units in the strip mall have been filled in the past year or so. He said he hasn’t seen any plans for the former video store.

According to city property records, the building is owned by Ayoub Mehdizadeh of Waltham and other trustees.

The parent company of West Coast Video filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in 2001.

A nice Breakfast Nook, like the Honey Bee, or something like Brothers Deli, that used to be in Peabody. Contact them in Danvers, maybe they would open another one here, they did well, and everyone I know loved that restaurant!!! I believe they had to leave because of high rent issues??? Soup and salad place would also be nice for this area!!!

I agree with both above.i would like to see Brothers closer to down town though.Good Breakfast place needed. The owner of this property does not do a good job though. The wall has been a mess and the building needs work and parking lot is always dirty. I am not sure there is enough parking for a too popular place.

I agree with all of the above, especially Bagel World or a nice breakfast place!

Parking would be a huge problem for a busy breakfast. Deli redtaurant ! Plus it wouldn't be fair to the other businesses over there .

The average sit down dinner or breakfast is 30 to 45 minutes . The average person going into those other places are much quicker !!

I predict that a Subway or Tacobell will take up residence there, not that those would be my choices.
