Three Finalists Named for Peabody High Principal Job
Among the finalists is current assistant principal Eric Buckley. The other two candidates are administrators from outside districts.
Superintendent Joe Mastrocola informed the School Committee Tuesday night that he would be publicly interviewing those candidates Jan. 28-30 at the Kiley School.
The finalists recommended by the PVMHS principal screening committee are:
- Eric Buckley, Assistant Principal at PVMHS
- John Dillon, Assistant Principal for Education Services at Minuteman Regional High School
- Layne Millington, Principal at Swampscott High School
Mastrocola did not have resumes immediately available at Tuesday night's meeting on each candidate.
He did, however, say he felt all three were "excellent candidates to move forward with" and praised the screening committee led by Karen Budrow and Joan Endicott for its diligent and exhaustive efforts in the search process.
The new principal will replace Ed Sapienza, who officially retired last school year but agreed to return for one more year until a permanent hire was made.
Mastrocola said next week's meetings will have informal and formal components. Starting at 3:30 p.m. on each day, anyone interested in asking a question of a candidate will be able to do so prior to the formal interview he will conduct at 4:15 p.m.
All meetings will be at the Kiley School and open to the public.
Mastrocola said that following the interviews, he will complete background checks and references before making his final selection.
That person will then be announced to the School Committee first and then to the community, which Mastrocola hopes to do by Feb. 27.
