Police Investigate Multiple Robberies, Break-ins Over Weekend

The following information was submitted by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges or arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following are excerpts from reports in the press log from Sept. 15-18.

Thursday, Sept. 15

  • 8:56 p.m. A male walked into the station to report his laptop computer and textbooks were taken from his unlocked car earlier that evening while parked at North Shore Community College.

Friday, Sept. 16

  • 5:06 a.m. A Pulaski Street resident reported the Dumpster was just emptied at the , waking her up.
  • 6:01 a.m. A caller reported his car, a 2001 Kia, damaged a sign board on the side of the road and struck a fence on Bartholomew Street.
  • 9:09 a.m. Police were called to Oak Grove Cemetery on a report of a woman screaming. The cause of the woman's hysterics was apparently a sickly-looking raccoon.
  • 9:19 a.m. Police responded to a report of a fight between a parent and a student at the Peabody Vocational High School section of the . Both father and son, 16, were issued summonses for creating a school disturbance.
  • 11:51 a.m. A caller reported a car break-in on Butternut Avenue. The vehicle was unlocked and an undetermined amount of change and "two unique walking sticks" valued at $30 were stolen.
  • 12:52 p.m. Police identified the perpretator of the theft of some DVDs and a DVD player at Inn Transition on Washington Street.
  • 1:08 p.m. A caller reported that a man who was on an Overeaters Anonymous conference call with her told everyone he might have injured his wife and children. The man was located in Miami, Fla. Neither the woman or police were able to identify the man.
  • 2:06 p.m. Emilio Deleon, 32, of 31 Morris St. #3, Lynn, was arrested on Summit Street for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, on a warrant from and for failure to appear in court upon personal recognizance.
  • 2:31 p.m. John P. Lynch III, 21, of 18 Ellsworth Ter., Lynn, was arrested on Central Street for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of property damage. A vehicle driven by Lynch struck a parked car and fled the scene.
  • 3:28 p.m. A caller reported a fight between about 20 people at Pierpont Park. An officer responding to the scene spoke to the two individuals involved in the fight and said neither one wished to pursue the matter.
  • 4:19 p.m. A caller on Northend Street reported one of her car tires was slashed.
  • 4:42 p.m. An off-duty firefighter reported spotting juveniles carrying baseball bats enter the vacant Fine & Co. factory off Lynnfield Street. He then heard glass breaking. Police found the youths inside the building and reported they would speak with the parents.
  • 6:06 p.m. A caller reported a man was lying in the cemetery off Wallis Street. Police found the man and sent him on his way.
  • 7:59 p.m. Police responded to a burglary on Quail Road. The resident came home to find his back door smashed in and various items missing. Police said the burglary happened sometime between 5 p.m. and when the man came home. He said he would compile a list of missing items and forward it to the police.
  • 8:50 p.m. Keith E. Ryfoss, 46, of 50 Warren St. #415, Peabody, was arrested for shoplifting at . According to store employees, Ryfoss attempted to steal a cart full of meat.
  • 9:01 p.m. Police responded to a robbery at the CVS at the corner of Main and Howley streets. A store clerk described the suspect as a white male in his 20s with short brown hair and freckles. He was wearing a New England Patriots championship sweatshirt with black striped windpants. The suspect, who was unarmed, fled the store on foot, heading up Main Street. A court summons for unarmed robbery was issued for a 20-year-old Lynn male.

Saturday, Sept. 17

  • 8:20 a.m. Employees at the reported a past burglary. Police said someone kicked in the back door, which had already been repaired that morning. No further details were available.
  • 11:53 a.m. An officer reported a resident on Fairview Avenue said she believed someone was taking her car out in the middle of the night for a spin and putting more than 50 miles on it.
  • 12:31 p.m. An officer reported a car at the station on Andover Street was keyed and someone put sugar in the gas tank.
  • 12:56 p.m. One person was transported to , complaining of back pain, after a two-car accident on Lowell Street.
  • 1:20 p.m. Peabody officers assisted Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers on serving a warrant at a Murray Street residence. The suspect was detained. No further information was available.
  • 2:07 p.m. One person was transported to Salem Hospital with injuries after a motorcycle accident on Russell Street. No further details were available.
  • 4:08 p.m. An employee at reported a past theft. A male customer was supposed to return to pay for a granite step, but he never showed up.
  • 4:25 p.m. A caller on Johnson Avenue reported someone rummaged through the person's car. Nothing was missing.
  • 4:47 p.m. Rocky Miller, 25, of 32 Johnson St., Peabody, was arrested on Taylor Street for driving with a revoked license, following a motor vehicle stop.
  • 9:35 p.m. A caller on Janet Lane reported someone threw a bottle of water at the house. Police said there was no damage and the bottle appeared to just be trash.
  • 10:46 p.m. A caller reported two bowling balls were thrown through a car window on Bartholomew Street. Nothing was missing from the vehicle.
  • 11:06 p.m. Police responded to a burglary on Washington Street near Granite Street. Police said the burglar broke in through a glass slider sometime after 7 p.m. Police are investigating the incident; it was unclear whether any items were actually stolen.
  • 11:25 p.m. State police, Peabody Fire and responded to a three-car accident on Route 1 at the jughandle. Unknown injuries were reported by a passerby who didn't stop. No further details were available.
  • 11:30 p.m. Rodger Parker, 29, of 40 Trinity Ave. #4, Lynn, was arrested on Route 1 near the , following a motor vehicle stop. He was charged with driving with a suspended license, a marked lanes violation and possession of Class B and D (marijuana) drugs.

Sunday, Sept. 18

  • 12:26 a.m. A Domino's Pizza delivery driver reported he was held up and robbed on Walnut Street. The suspect vehicle is a small white Toyota or Nissan driven by a female with a male passenger.
  • 12:56 a.m. Robert Sewall, 26, of 14 Washington Pl. #2, Peabody, was arrested at his residence for domestic assault and battery. An officer was at the scene on report of a possible stolen car.
  • 9:18 a.m. A caller on Summit Street reported a chipmunk was under her refrigerator. She was referred to MassWildlife.
  • 9:57 a.m. One person was transported to after a two-car accident on Lowell Street.
  • 10:27 a.m. Both drivers were transported to after a two-car accident at the intersection of Route 114 and Cross Street.
  • 10:58 a.m. A caller on Emily Lane reported someone left a TV in his driveway.
  • 11:30 a.m. A caller at Ghost Armour, located at the mall, reported someone broke in overnight and stole an iPad.
  • 1:44 p.m. A 32-year-old Danvers man was issued a summons for shoplifting at .
  • 1:59 p.m. Ariel R. Abad, 28, of 80 Washington St. #1, Peabody, was arrested near the on Lowell Street for trespassing and disorderly conduct, following a report of a disturbance.
