Peabody to Hold Prayer Service Tuesday for Bombing Victims

Mayor Bettencourt and Peabody clergy will hold a citywide prayer service Tuesday evening for the victims Boston Marathon bombing.

Peabody will gather Tuesday evening in an interfaith prayer service to remember the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing, which killed three and left 190 with serious injuries, including loss of limbs.

The citywide prayer service will be held at St. John the Baptist Parish at 7 p.m. April 23. Mayor Ted Bettencourt plans to join clergy from churches and synagogues in Peabody for the service.

“As we continue to grieve for those who were killed and injured during the Boston Marathon, we can find comfort together as a community of faith,” Bettencourt said in a statement. “I invite all those who wish to honor the victims to join us on Tuesday evening.”

The service will feature prayers and special readings along with music performed by the Peabody Veterans Memorial High School Chorale and choirs and cantors of local houses of worship.

A collection will also be taken for the victims through The One Fund.

Parking is available behind City Hall and at St. John’s.
