Peabody High Students Art Work to Grace Downtown Storefronts

City set to launch second annual Art in the Storefronts exhibition.

Art work created by 15 students will soon be displayed in several downtown business storefronts.

Beginning on March 28, city residents and visitors will able to see historical renderings based on research of what storefronts located at 44, 46, 59 and 78 Main Street looked like.

Mayor Michael Bonfanti and the city Community Development and Planning Office announced the second annual Art in the Storefronts event this week. Merritt Kirkpatrick, curator of the and Nancy Schaller, chair of the Peabody High Art Department teamed up to coordinate the exhibition.

According to Kirkpatrick, she and Schaller researched the storefronts mentioned with the use of city directories contained in the Archives of the and then gave that information to the students.

The exhibition is scheduled to run from March 28 through April 15 and the storefronts that will be used include: , The and , according to Kirkpatrick. The Peabody Cultural Council and generously sponsored this exhibition, with help from the Peabody Rotary Club.

 An opening reception will be held on Saturday, April 2, at 2 p.m. at the Peabody Institute Library.

The Peabody High students who created the art work that will be displayed are:  Kate Audesse, Jenessa Bettencourt, Christina Catucci, Dom Civiello, Shamica Clermont, Sabrina Delvecchio, Jackie Eldridge, Taylor Harisim, Kayla Licata, Matt Meserve, Genesis Perez, Nick Pigulski, Brittany Quigley, Michael Senese, and Demetri Zaimes.
