Paving on Pulaski All Day Thursday

The entirety of Pulaski Street will be closed to traffic for most of the day and no parking allowed. Expect delays and seek alternate routes.

[Editor's Note: This article was updated to reflect some changes in the work schedule and traffic flow planned Thursday.]

City road crews will be out laying down the asphalt for Pulaski Street and a small section of Gardner St at the corner of Pulaski this Thursday.

The city says paving will be happening all day long -- 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., so expect delays both to and from your way to work. Traffic will only flow in one direction down Pulaski Street -- headed toward Danvers -- until approximately 9 a.m. when access to Gardner Street will be available and Pulaski Street will then be closed.

No parking will be allowed on Pulaski Street during paving operations.

For motorists coming from Margin Street and Salem, that means you'll have to find a slightly different route to Downtown Peabody or Route 114. Only one-way traffic coming from Wilson Square will be allowed on Gardner Street.

If you're heading to Danvers, the plan for traffic flow after 9 a.m. is Gardner Street out to Margin Street, which turns into Water Street in Danvers. There will be no access to Pulaski Street past the intersection with Gardner Street in Peabody nor from the other end in Danvers at South Liberty Street.

Peabody police officers will be on traffic detail to help monitor the situation and guide motorists through the area, but they do encourage motorists to seek alternate routes if possible.

In the event of inclement weather, paving will be postponed to another day.

Only in Peabody...the sign advising motorists to "Seek Alternate Routes" is located on Pulaski Street before St. Josephs Church. My point is...once you are at that point you have no alternate route versus Pulaski - Gardner Streets. The sign should be placed on the Andover Street Bridge before Wilson Square
