Nationals Still in it; Go Extra Innings to Best Lynn Shore

The Peabody Nationals Little League Club is still alive in the Williamsport Tournament, defeating Lynn Shore, 10-7, in extra innings.

Trailing by five runs in the second inning, the Peabody Nationals rallied to a 6-5 lead in the top of the sixth against Lynn Shore Thursday night.

With one out and a man on third base, Peabody's Andrew Hamel snagged a wicked ground ball by the third base bag and threw to first for the second out.

The top-notch play, which went into seven innings and a final tally of 10-7 (Peabody), allowed the club to advance yet again in the Little League Williamsport Tournament.

The Peabody National all-stars lost to Swampscott at the get-go on Sunday, but rallied back to defeat West Lynn American on Tuesday, before heading to Swampscott Thursday against Lynn Shore.

According to the tournament format, Peabody would play the winner of Saturday's contest between Lynnfield and Saugus National next Wednesday (July 6).
