Lynn Man Wanted for Washington Street Shooting

Police say the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.

Authorities have identified a suspect in last week's shooting at a Washington Street apartment that left one male with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Aquiles Antonio Bernabe-Deleon, 21, of Lynn, is now wanted on charges of armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a gun), unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.

A warrant was issued from Peabody District Court and Peabody police say Bernabe-Deleon should be "considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached."

Deputy Police Chief Martin Cohan said in a brief press statement Sunday evening that Bernabe-Deleon was identified with assistance from investigators from the district attorney's office and the Lynn Police Department's gang unit.

According to a description, Bernabe-Deleon is five-foot-five and weighs about 129 pounds. Police also released a headshot of the suspect, which is included with this story.

"If you see him, or know of his wherabouts, please contact Peabody Police Department detectives at 978-538-6364. You may also report anonymously using the MyPD Smartphone app or utilize the links on www.peabodypolice.org," said Cohan.

No further details were given about any relationship between the suspect and the victim, a 27-year-old man who suffered a non-fatal wound, although police have said they do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence.
