Lynn Man Leads Police on Chase Back to Lynn

The following information was submitted by the Peabody Police Department. Where charges or arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following are excerpts from reports in the press log from Sept. 19-21.

Monday, Sept. 19

  • 4:04 p.m. Police recovered two stolen vehicles -- a Mazda pickup truck and a Chevrolet Trailblazer -- after Phil's Towing was called to remove both vehicles for trespassing. They were left parked at 8 Crowninshield St. Police said the truck was owned by a Salem man, although it was reported stolen in Peabody, while the SUV belonged to Salem Auto Brokers of Salem.
  • 5:34 p.m. Rogelio Matias, 34, of 119 Beacon Hill Ave. #1, Lynn, was arrested on Route 1 near , following a motor vehicle stop. He was charged with a subsequent offense of driving with a suspended license.
  • 7:21 p.m. An intoxicated 55-year-old Peabody man was transported by ambulance to Salem Hospital from where he was found at the .
  • 9:45 p.m. A 45-year-old Peabody man was transported to Salem Hospital after a two-car accident at the corner of Wallis and Elm streets.

Tuesday, Sept. 20

  • 1:26 a.m. Gary M. Lucia, Jr., 32, of Wells, Maine, was arrested on Route 1 near the , following a motor vehicle stop. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and a marked lanes violation.
  • 7:21 a.m. A caller reported an elderly woman ran across Lynn Street, nearly getting struck by a passing car. The woman was clad in pajamas and clutching a blanket. Police found her and reunited the woman with her daughter.
  • 10:50 a.m. A caller reported an attempted burglary at a Margaret Road home. A neighbor reported seeing a stranger, a white male dressed all in blue, at the home.
  • 10:53 a.m. Abdikadir Mohamud, 39, of 7 Vine St., Lynn, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop at the corner of Lynnfield Street and First Avenue. He was charged with failure to stop or yield and driving with a revoked registration and suspended license.
  • 1:24 p.m. A Peabody woman reported she received a threat on her life via email, but she was unable to determine who sent the message. Police were also unable to identify the sender.
  • 2:46 p.m. Police and Fire responded to a reports of a natural gas odor outside at Brooksby Village. Police said it was an ongoing issue and notified the gas company.
  • 6:11 p.m. A female caller reported a person she hired via Craigslist didn't return her money after she asked for it back due to him not performing the work promised. She was advised it was a civil matter and should be handled in district court.
  • 6:52 p.m. Shaun M. Leblanc, 30, of 23 Patricia Rd., Peabody, was arrested for aggravated domestic assault and battery, following a report of a domestic incident at his residence. A 23-year-old Haverhill woman was also issued a summons for domestic assault and battery.
  • 9:10 p.m. A caller reported a car break-in at the on Route 1. A rear passenger window was smashed and a laptop computer was taken.
  • 9:55 p.m. Police received a call that an 85-year-old man left to pick up his wife at Beverly Hospital, but never arrived. He was later listed as missing by Beverly police and an alert was issued to area departments to be watching for him. Police said he has an onset of Alzheimer's.

Wednesday, Sept. 21

  • 8:16 a.m. An employee reported a power panel was stolen at on Sept. 19. The panel was worth about $300.
  • 9:42 a.m. An officer was approached by a parent at the about a car that sped through the school lot during student drop-off. Police spoke to the girlfriend of the registered car owner and told her to slow down on school property.
  • 9:52 a.m. Employees at reported the past theft of a company laptop computer and two nail guns.
  • 10:17 a.m. Police issued a summons for shoplifting for a 25-year-old Peabody resident, following a report of a shoplifter at the CVS on Main Street.
  • 10:42 a.m. A 22-year-old Lynn man driving a black Volkswagen led police on a chase into Lynn. Police said the suspect fled by car from Longview Way upon spotting an officer. Police chased the vehicle down Lynn Street into the neighboring city and a foot chase began on Chestnut Street. The man lost his pursuers and Lynn officers and a K9 unit assisted in the search, but were unable to find the suspect. He was issued a summons for speeding, failure to stop or yield, a marked lanes violation, driving recklessly to endanger and failure to stop for police.
  • 11:35 a.m. A female resident at an called to complain that pit bull owners were walking their leashed but unmuzzled dogs through the complex. Since the dogs were on leashes, the only violation was that of trespassing, police said. Pit bulls are also not required to be muzzled. The woman was advised to post notices throughout her complex warning dog owners not to stroll through anymore with their pit bulls.
  • 11:56 a.m. Anthony Kennedy, 20, of 94 Western Ave. #2R, Lynn, was arrested by detectives on six warrants that included multiple charges of robbery and assault battery. Kennedy was arrested in Lynn and transported to the Peabody station for booking.
