5 Things You Need to Know Today, Oct. 30

Trash collection is slated for today, but just Monday.

[Editor's Note: Trash collection today is only to pick up Monday's trash. There will be a one-day delay this week.]

Today is Tuesday, Oct. 30. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.

  1. Well, we survived Hurricane Sandy for starters. There is no school again today in Peabody as city crews continue the long and arduous cleanup process from the hurricane.
  2. The city says JRM will be out today for trash collection, and plans to pick up just the Monday route.
  3. Without any announcements last night to the contrary, City Hall and all other public offices and buildings should be open again for business today.
  4. The Torigian Family YMCA says it plans to be open regular hours today and in light of the schools being closed, will run its school age childcare program for a full day today..
  5. The Family Engagement Center says it canceled Family Fun Day at Brooksby Farm (Wednesday) due to weather. There will be a Horribles Day Parade at 11 a.m. at the Kiley School, however.
