5 Things to Know to Get Your Weekend Started
Toy drive, fundraiser/walk, web blackout and Santa on ice.
Today is Friday, Dec. 21. Here are five things to know today in Peabody.
- Students and staff at Higgins Middle School will be holding a fundraiser walk this morning to support the Sandy Hook School community. The walk starts at 9:30 a.m. at Higgins.
- Also this morning at 9:30, Patch will join with AOL in a company-wide web blackout as a "moment of silence" to honor the victims of the elementary school shooting in Newtown, CT, last week.
- Today is the last day of the Peabody Police Department's annual holiday toy drive. Drop off new, unwrapped toys in the station lobby.
- Bring the family down to the McVann-O'Keefe Rink Sunday afternoon for a family skate with Santa Claus.
- “Rachel Rome Houpes: A Celebration of Art” is on display now through Jan. 4 in the ArcWorks Community Art Center gallery at 22 Foster St. The free exhibit features oil paintings, acrylics and mixed-media abstract art work by Rachel Rome Houpes. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Friday, noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
