Weekly Parent-Child Playgroups

  • December 6, 2011

Join the Peabody Family Engagement Center for its free Parent/Child Playgroups on Wednesdays, 21 Johnson St.

Parent/Infant group: 9:30-10:30 a.m., Infants from birth – 14 months

Parent/Toddler group: 11 a.m. to noon, 15 months – 2 years, 9 months.

Parent/Preschool group: 12:30-1:30 p.m., 2.9 years – 5 years.

Moms, dads, and caregivers and their children (birth to age 8) are welcome. Playgroups are a chance for children to be with other children and participate in new activities, and develop social skills, such as taking turns, sharing, cooperating and solving conflicts. Playgroups are also a chance for parents to enjoy each other’s company, where they can ask questions, share concerns and meet new friends.

The Peabody Family Engagement Center will be open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parents, caregivers and their families are welcome to stop in. The Family Engagement Center is set up as a warm, inviting, creative learning environment to motivate children and their parents to engage in activities. The center has a block and manipulative area as well as a literacy area, where children/parents can choose a book and read together on a soft rug or beanbag chair.

There is also a parent information area with community resources and a free clothing area. This is a space for parents to meet and talk with one another. Free workshops and activities will be offered.

The Center look forward to meeting new families. Funded by a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care, awarded to Peabody Public Schools.
