Strakosha, Shea Qualify for States in 100 Butterfly and 200 IM

Tanners Swimming and Diving won against Lynn English, 92- 87 in its first home meet at the Torigian Family YMCA in Peabody on Dec. 20.
Winning events for the Tanners were the boys 200-yard medley relay team of Alex Guay, Pat Jwansowski, Zack Melville and Alex Strakosha (1:55.72), which also went on to win the 200-freestyle relay (1:44.57). Strakosha went on to win the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.54) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.15), while his sister, Maria, won the 100-yard butterfly and qualified for MIAA State Championships (1:06.05). Alex Guay won the 50-yard freestyle (24.86) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.20), while Christine Shea won the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.99 and qualified for MIAA State Championships in the 200-yard individual medley (2:26.34).
The Tanners, now 2-0-1, will be enjoying a much needed holiday break and will be hosting the Salem Witches on Jan. 8, 2013.
