Peabody Swimming and Diving Defeats Salem, 95-80, at Home

The Tanners swimming and diving won against Salem, 95-80, at the Torigian Family YMCA in Peabody on Jan. 8.
Winning events for the Tanners was the boys 200-yard medley relay team of Alex Guay, Pat Jwansowski, Zack Melville and Alex Strakosha with a time of 1:56.97, which also went on to win the 200-freestyle relay (1:45.43).
Guay went on to win the 50-yard freestyle, Strakosha went on to win the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.49) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.73), qualifying him for MIAA North Sectionals.
Tanners Divers Paige Hayward and Corey Pierce came first and second, with 155.30 and 110.00 points, respectively.
Christine Shea won the 500-yard freestyle (6:01.28). John Domenico qualified for the North East Conference meet in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 7:22.10.
The Tanners, now 3-0-1, will be hosting the Danvers Falcons this Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013.
